ISTANA BUKIT ZAHARAH, JOHOR BAHRU
1. was built in 1858
2. was built by Sultan Abu Bakar in honor of his sister

5. known for several other names (Balai Zaharah, Balai Cengkeh and Balai Besar)
6. was surrounded by other royal houses (Chief Minister, Executive Council members, State Secretary, etc)
7. was used mainly as royal events and ceremonies (wedding, dinner)
8. the ground level of the palace was used as a museum of antique cars for Sultan Abu Bakar and Sultan Ibrahim

10. from 1866 onward, the palace was still used occasionally for royal events and ceremonies until 1913 (proclamation of Sultan Ibrahim on Sept 7, 1895, as the Sultan of Johor)

PROJECT GOALS
1. the MAIN PURPOSE of this project is to recreate experience of the early environment and building of Istana Bukit Zaharah using 3D reconstruction and real-time application (VR)
2. the purpose of this project is to reconstruct Istana Bukit Zaharah as accurate as possible to their original, more than 100 years from present day
3. this application allows users to visit this heritage building from different platform and learn about its history and facts
4. these days the palace’s interior is totally wrecked and reconstruction of this building is the only way that allows people to visit this place again
5. since physical reconstruction costs too much, and the Johor government thinks that the palace is too old and does not have sufficient reason for a reconstruction project, a Virtual Reality application would be the best solution for this problem

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
1. to make user experience & see how the interior and exterior looks like during those days (1850's)
2. allows user to access the restricted area via different medium using Virtual Reality application
3. to portray and present different information’s and historical facts as a virtual archive for the palace
4. to let user immerse and learn through realistic virtual environment, text and audio effects
5. to let user experience real environment and situation using Virtual Reality application
DESCRIPTION
1. this application contains 3D model of Istana Bukit Zaharah during the 1850’s
2. a loading/introduction page will appear and user will redirect to the virtual environment/starting point
3. the start point is in front of the main entrance of the palace
4. an audio narrator about the palace’s history can be heard when the user start to navigate
5. user can navigate inside the palace and some part of its exterior
6. when navigating inside the palace, user can interact with multiple objects to get information’s
INTERACTION DESCRIPTION
1. user can navigate (walk-through) around the virtual environment and interact with objects
2. user will have to interact with multiple objects for information’s such as paintings on wall, documents or furniture’s
3. interactive information’s or historical facts icons will be integrated inside the palace
4. when approaching an interactive object, an indication (text or blinking object, using proximity sensor) will appear
5. proximity sensors will be placed at strategic areas/points in order to activate certain audio feedback such as narrator
